(Not) Another Show Again

It is different when you are doing something with total pleasure. No money involved. Even when you feel that doing it is like doing your old hated daily job. You hate your work; you even do not love anymore what you do everyday in your office. But let ask you to do it again not for money. And put also additional condition, it’s in the middle of your long vacation from the job.

It depends. For me, if you are surrounding by the people you love. Fascinating guys that you can rely on to watch your back. Nice environment to work with. Incredible talent that surely you gonna give all to support them. Why not? or in Dutch, waarom niet? And all for the good cause though.

I just received an email from my work colleague, my fave anchor, Najwa Shihab

hi yu, wah kayanya seru banget disana..
metro lagi sering banget breaking news, tiap hari ada
aja musibah, kalau ngak gempa, angin ribut, kecelakaan
pesawat, kapal laut, plis deh, ngak berhenti2... jadi
bingung, baru kirim SNG ke padang krn gempa, tau2
garuda terbakar di jogja..:( so bad banget negeri kita
ini.
other than that, kantor as usual aja, agak garing..
nana

The Indonesian students in Utrecht also had the same feeling; they met and came up with the initiative to held a charity performances. We gonna performs Indonesian traditional dance, traditional songs and documentary movies, all showed the beauty of Indonesia to the bule-bule.

Here we go. Give it what you’ve got. Gave whatyou’ve been trained for the last three and half years. In this event I’m acting as a tech support, maintain all things so the talents can perform nicely.

The noble spirit of the man working behind the camera or audience is to create a great support for the talents. We believed there’s always a line of great persons behind every president.

I remember my first respected mentor in this field, Mr Denny Rahman Saleh, he taught me that successful show is only when audience get tremendous expression until they went home. And I do remember my respected senior producer in the office always mentioned to pay attention to the details without loosing the grand picture, check and recheck all the facilities, cooperate with your crews and create a convenient stage for your talents.

The show went great. The ticket fully booked, or in Dutch, uitverkoop. Some audiences even didn’t mine to stand during the show. At the end of the show, the audience even didn’t want to leave, they wanted more. The performers get spectacular applause and congratulation. Even there is an offer to conduct a road show in every town. :)

Here’s what we got from the show, not bad isn’t it?

Although I’m here as an LLM student in International Human Rights Law, deep inside I still enjoyed to conduct a show, especially with all the incredible guys. It’s been a nice team work.

manager of the moluks museum, the humble sound engineer for Daniel Sahuleka, Ruth Sahanaya and Glenn Fredly. It’s been an honor to cooperate with you in such a successful show.
